A Little Rock native, Opera In The Rock Executive & Artistic Director Kate Sain holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance with an emphasis in Opera from the University of Central Arkansas and a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University in Jazz Studies. A professional Music Copyist with extensive experience in Arts Administration and Production, Kate worked for over 10 years for Jazz at Lincoln Center as an Assistant in Programming and Concert Administration, where she served as VIP Coordinator for many JALC season concerts and special events while also doing extensive archival work for the JALC Music Library and serving as a Copyist for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis.
Ms. Sain has also served various roles with other leading arts organizations in the New York City area including TONY Award Productions, New York Stage & Film Company and Lincoln Center, Inc. and has worked many years as Executive Assistant to Arkansan and Tony Award-Winning Broadway producer Elizabeth Williams of Grain of Sand Productions. She has studied commercial theater production extensively with the Commercial Theater Institute where she was selected in 2013 to participate in the Eugene O’Neill Summer Producing Intensive and recently completed the 2020 Producer Academy with indie opera company Beth Morrison Projects.
As a copyist, artist and production assistant, she has collaborated with artists and composers such as Stephen Sondheim, Alan Menken, Willie Nelson, Norah Jones, Bernadette Peters, Dianne Reeves, Angela Lansbury, Jane Monheit, and the late Eartha Kitt and Kitty Carlisle Hart. Kate is also an operatic soprano with favorite roles including The Mother in Amahl and The Night Visitors and selections as Madame Pompous in Too Many Sopranos. In addition, Ms. Sain currently teaches Pre-Teen Voice and Audition Coaching with Adventures in the Arts at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church.
